If you do want to set up an internal git server using gitosis or gitolite then I would personally recommend gitolite. These are a few of the reasons why I switched.
1) gitolite is actively developed
2) gitolite error checks the config file – I locked myself out of gitosis once and it was a bit of a pain to fix.
3) gitolite groups are more flexible
4) gitolite allows users to create repositories without requiring an admin to create an entry for the repo in the config file.
1) seems like a pretty strong argument for a fresh install since gitolite functionality is a superset of gitosis and I don't think it was any harder to setup. 4) has been quite popular with some members of my group.
