Dear All,
As you are no doubt aware, we have been working hard to resolve problems with intermittent failures of the Xenon lamps on the DeltaVisions. Every microscope now has a stable and functioning fluorescent lamp as follows:
LMF spectris – replaced with mercury lamp
OMX – replaced with mercury lamp
LMF DV3 – no problem, no different
2nd floor spectris – brand new Xenon lamp housing
M floor spectris – replaced with mercury lamp
M floor DV3 – brand new Xenon lamp housing
M floor RT – no problem, no different
KGS DV Core – brand new Xenon lamp housing
Please let us know if you have any problems with fluorescence on any of these microscopes but, in particular, we need to know if you notice the Xenon lamps flickering or intermittently turning themselves off and back on again. I will let you know as soon as the Mercury lamps are upgraded – this should happen on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, but the last batch of replacement lamps we put on a couple of weeks ago were also faulty, so this is a best guess based on what the vendor is telling us – and we'd be grateful if you could give us feedback on how these are performing once they're installed.
As ever, if you notice any problems whatsoever with any of the microscopes in LMF, please do make sure we are made aware of it, ideally via email. We are unable to fix problems we don't know about.
Many thanks,
Sam
