Hi All-
It's that time again-- we're renewing our grants from the Wellcome
Trust and the BBSRC. One of the things funders want to see is that
the OME project provides a valuable service to the community. The
grants we are renewing support a substantial portion of our
developers and also pay for all of our servers, email lists,
meetings, etc. We know our software is being accessed-- we are
currently seeing >100 downloads of our server applications per
month. Feedback on these lists, bug tracking, update requests, etc.
suggest it is in use, but we need as much CONCRETE evidence as we can
get.
Therefore, we are asking you to write to us and give us your comments
about the OME project-- anything and everything: OME file formats,
Bio-formats, OME server and OMERO software, user support,
interaction, response, or whatever else you can think of. You can
use this forum, or write to me directly. Some of you work for
commercial entities and would prefer not to let us know your
affiliation. That's fine, just contact us using your favorite
generic email account (hotmail, gmail, or whatever) and tell us you
work for "a pharmaceutical company" or whatever. If we requested, we
will guarantee anonymity of the submissions-- that is not a problem.
Any comments, positive or negative are welcome. Even just to know
you are running the software, and still getting to know it is
helpful. Maybe you WOULD run it if it only did X or Y-- any feedback
at all. But it is IMPERATIVE that we have this input so that we can
provide evidence of a community we are serving-- that is the only way
to justify further funding.
We'll need these by Feb 28 in order to collate them for submission.
If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to
contact me.
Our thanks in advance for this-- we appreciate your help and support.
Cheers,
Jason
