https://docs.openmicroscopy.org/contributing/ is probably your best
start. We certainly welcome and appreciate contributions! Note the
Bio-Formats link toward the bottom of that page. Also, the "develop"
branch on GitHub will have our current ND2 fixes like
https://github.com/openmicroscopy/bioformats/pull/3191. It is fine to
use Eclipse and you will find that it has a decent Maven plugin.

I would expect "mvn package" to build JARs that Fiji can use. (I'm sure
somebody will correct me if not!)
I should mention that if you have any sharable sample images that show
problems with any formats then do feel free to submit them to
http://qa.openmicroscopy.org.uk/qa/upload/ then we can include them
among our regression testing to ensure that our future code changes do
not accidentally break your fixes.
