Yes, the OME team is aware that newer Leica systems acquire .lof files
by default, and that this format is not yet supported by Bio-Formats.
The relevant ticket on our issue tracker is here:

We currently have very few .lof files available for testing; if you
are willing to provide one or more example files that would certainly
be very helpful.  Files can be uploaded here:
