Dear All--

As you might have noticed, we've taken the "Beta" out of the OMERO naming convention.

We argued about this long and hard. Bottom line-- OMERO is used around the world and in many world-class applications. We know OMERO isn't a finished product, and we have a long way to go to satisfy all the demands of our users. But the application does work, and it does deliver a lot of value in many different domains.

We know losing "Beta" might appear to increase the seriousness of the project. In fact, it doesn't at all change the commitment of the team to continuing development or supporting our users.

So, it's probably time to drop "Beta". Friday the 13th, and another major release, is as good a time as any. ;-)!

Have a great weekend.

Cheers,

Jason
