I'll let the web-gurus amongst us answer, but there is definitely some
ajax'ing going on. Can you tell us what framework(s) you are or are
planning to use?

Python and Java are both equally supported, and so the choice is
yours. C++ is also as feature complete and will be usuable in 4.0, but
list readers will have noticed that compiling C++ is less
straight-forward. We hope to have this improved for 4.1 later this
Spring.
