Just by importing the file via web UI, command-line, etc.
OME XML files don't actually have to contain images.  Any valid OME XML 
can be imported via the standard mechanisms at run-time.

The only place where you might have difficulty is when you are hacking 
away at the ST definition.  The importer won't let two STs with the 
same name but with different elements exist in the same DB.
