Hi,

As you all know, the BioRad is the ONLY microscope with a chamber
that users are allowed to switch on and off. Chambers on the
DeltaVisions must not be altered.

Please remember that the default setting for the chamber on the
BioRad is "ON". If you have turned the chamber off for your
experiment you MUST turn it back on again immediately afterwards. It
takes a relatively short time for the chamber to cool to room
temperature whereas it takes several hours for the chamber to heat up
and stabilise.

This has caused problems for 2 reasons -
1. the chamber has been left off ahead of live cell imagers who then
have to wait several hours for the system to stabilise.
2. the chamber has been left off for a fixed cell user the following
day - which seems reaonsbale - but if this user cancels their session
and a live cell imager takes the available space at short notice they
then have to wait for the chamber to heat up again.

If BioRad users want to get together with me to work out the best way
to manage this, please let me know by email.

Cheers,
Sam
