Dear All,
Some of you have experienced intermittent problems when using the LMF
DV3. The problems and fixes are as follows -
1. Choice of dichroic - the dichroic mirrors are moved with a slider
beneath the objective turret. The "furthest in" position is the QUAD
filter, followed by JP3 and then JP4.
2. Camera lines - the camera occasionally produces lines in the
image. If the problem persists after the room lights are turned off,
please restart the instrument controller. If this still doesn't
help, contact me, Calum Thomson or Paul Appleton and we will restart
the camera.
3. Missing a large area of the field of view in the acquired image -
the DV3 occasionally "forgets" where the filters are supposed to be.
If a filter is not in its home position, you may only see part of the
image that you acquire (i.e. the camera filter wheel is not
positioning correctly). A similar thing can happen with the
excitation wheel (the wrong colour light might come through, or the
filed of view down the eyepieces will appear unevenly illuminated)
and the ND wheel (it looks too dark, too bright etc). All of these
problems will be resolved when you restart the instrument
controller. Should this not solve the problem, we can manually
relocate the filter home positions for you.
Thanks,
Sam
