Dear All,
A quick note about the heated chambers. Occasionally some of you
need to change the temperature of the heated chambers by a few
degrees, which is fine. Unfortunately this is not as straightforward
as you might think because -
1. the temperature sensor is not accurate; if you set it to 37,
there is no way it's really going to end up at 37
2. it takes a long time for the temperature to stabilise
If you need to change the temperature of the chamber please could you
do the following -
1. check with us before you do it
2. check the temperature setting before you start
3. book an extra hour after your session to allow enough time for
the temperature to stabilise
4. check the mercury thermometer inside the chamber to make sure it
really has returned to 37 before the next person starts
It sounds trivial I know, but we've had too many cases of people
turning up to do live cell experiments and finding the chamber at
totally the wrong temperature and wrecking their session.
Thanks,
Sam
