Hi,

Laura and I have spent a couple of days upgrading the M floor DV3.
If you use this microscope please read the following -

1. The DV3 now has working JP3 and JP4 filter sets as well as the
QUAD (i.e. dapi, fitc, tritc, cy5, cfp, yfp, gfp, yfp)

2. The eyepiece filter wheel has now been set up to automatically
control the excitation and emission filters (i.e. it works like the
spectris wheel now; you turn the eyepieces to CFP and it will
automatically change the excitation and camera emission to CFP as well).

3. Because the controller software had to be changed for these
upgrades to work, your camera settings will have defaulted to the
CH350. You will need to launch SoftWorx and click on "camera
settings" then click on "micromax" close the window and click on
"save settings".

4. Your data file path may also be wrong. It should point to data1/
yourusername, but it might point to /usr/local/softworx/data
instead. To fix this, go to "user settings" change the file path and
hit save.

5. The bad news. For some reason there are problems when the DAPI
eyepiece filter is selected. If you are on the DAPI eyepiece and you
try to change the excitation or emission filters in SoftWorx, it will
stay on DAPI. Also, if you are looking down the microscope with DAPI
eyepiece filters in, the excitation shutter will rapidly click on and
off. This ONLY applies to the eyepiece filters. If you want to
image DAPI, put the eyepieces on anything else, and pick DAPI ex and
em in SoftWorx. If you need to look at your DAPI down the
microscope, try using the CFP filters, or putting the eyepiece on CFP
or FITC and switching the excitation filter to DAPI.

6. The DV3 has a small hard drive. You MUST move your data to Zeus
immediately after your session. If the person on after you needs the
space, we will have no choice but to delete your data.

Laura has put a print out about these changes next to the microscope,
so please do take a look at that before you start your session.
Obviously, if you need any help at all or this doesn't make the
slightest bit of sense to you, just give me, Calum or Laura a shout
and we'll give you a hand.

Thanks!
Sam
