Hi,

I've had a few reports about dirty microscopes and unused bookings (on
the LMF spectris in particular but this applies to all microscopes).
Most of you are just fantastic people, but to avoid us having to come
round with a baseball bat and hurt those of you who aren't, could I
take this opportunity to remind you all to -

1. sign into the booking calendar with your email address and
extension number so that you can be contacted
2. if you are unable to use the time you've booked a) delete your
entry b) email the person who is on after you to let them know the
microscope is available sooner
3. Clean the objectives and eyepieces with lens tissue and clean
anything you've spilled on the stage. If you're unsure about the best
way to do this, just ask. Sometimes the microscope gets a bit too
filthy for mere lens paper to clean. When that happens, just let me or
Calum know and we'll sort it out. Please don't try to clean anything
with solvents, mr muscle, high pressure sand blasters etc, you could do
some real damage.

Finally, we have a few ongoing problems with the 2nd floor spectris and
CRUK DV. Replacement parts have been ordered but may take a little
time to arrive. Thanks for bearing with us on this, we'll let you know
as soon as they're up and running again. We also had some problems
with storage space on Zeus which have now been more or less resolved,
so for all intents and purposes please consider it fixed.

Thanks!
Sam
