Dear All,

I'm sorry to report that we have some problems with hardware on the 2nd 
floor Spectris.  Basically, the illumination shutter does not close 
properly.  Although we replaced this several days ago, the new shutter 
has developed the same fault.  Those of you who are in the fortunate 
position of having bright samples that don't fade, or who just need to 
do DIC or brightfield, may still have some success imaging, so I'll 
reassemble the system tomorrow morning (Friday).  For everyone else, 
I'm afraid it's broken until further notice.
