Dear All-

We have decided to release OMERO 4.4.2, due to the following specific issues:

[*] large file archiving [1], as reported by Alex Herbert
[*] minor security issue in the OMERO.imagej plugin [2], as reported by Rubén Muñoz
[*] web start failures on Java 1.5 [3] and over HTTPS [4]
[*] inability to view fields in HCS data through OMERO.web

This release fixes an important and very specific bug that prevented files larger than 2 GB from being archived correctly. If you do not archive files larger than 2 GB, you do not need to upgrade your clients nor your server. To address the OMERO.imagej plugin issue, it is only necessary to update the version of Bio-Formats that is installed in ImageJ.

As always, the software is available at http://openmicroscopy.org

For information on the upgrade from 4.4.x to 4.4.2, see:

  http://www.openmicroscopy.org/site/support/omero4/server/upgrade

If you have not upgraded from 4.3.x to 4.4.0 or 4.4.1 yet, then please upgrade directly to 4.4.2 which is also explained on the page above.

For full details of the the next release (OMERO 4.4.3), see:

Kind regards,
The OME team
