Hi all!

Just wanted to send out a general FYI about some progress in a project I’ve been watching for some time:

http://white.ucc.asn.au/2018/01/18/DataDeps.jl-Repeatabled-Data-Setup-for-Repeatable-Science.html

In short, the idea behind this project is to come up with a way to define *Data* dependencies for a project much in the same way that we currently define *Code* dependencies with tools such as PIP and Maven.

What exists at present is merely a library for Julia (competitor/replacement for R/Matlab/Python) that manages downloading and verifying data sources, and a rudimentary dependency definition structure. There is not, as yet, a centralized repo for data dependencies. Still, I think this is an interesting space to watch and definitely a project that OME and IDR might want to pay attention to moving forward.

Regards,

Joshua Ballanco
