Yes, Bio-Formats should be updated to do the same.  We won't have a fix
for this ready in time for 5.1.0, but a ticket is open on our issue
tracking system:

http://trac.openmicroscopy.org/ome/ticket/12801

As usual, you have been CC'd, and I'd expect that we will have this
sorted out soon after 5.1.0.
