Hi Andreas,

> I'm puzzled of how to convert slides acquired with Ariol[1] and stored as a *.cat file can be converted to a more portable file format such as png or jpg. Unfortunately Bio-formats seems not to support this type of file and google didn't retrieve possible solutions. Any hints?

If the suggestions given so far don't meet your needs, note that there
is now a ticket on OME's issue tracking system to support these files
directly in Bio-Formats:

https://trac.openmicroscopy.org.uk/ome/ticket/10903

If you (or anyone else) would like to be automatically notified of
updates to that ticket, please let me know and I will CC you.

Regards,
-Melissa
