Sure Chris,

As I've said before I've compiled Ice from source hence no Ice RPM's in the
system except mcpp-devel package (recommended by Ice dev in their forum)
Here is the output of what you asked:

[omero at vera144 log]$ rpm -qa '*ice*'
device-mapper-1.02.63-4.el5
device-mapper-multipath-0.4.7-46.el5_7.1
system-config-services-0.9.4-5.el5
device-mapper-1.02.63-4.el5
device-mapper-event-1.02.63-4.el5

[omero at vera144 log]$ /proc/3767/exe -V
-bash: /proc/3767/exe: No such file or directory
[omero at vera144 log]$ ls -al /proc/3637/exe
lrwxrwxrwx 1 omero omero 0 Aug 16 03:24 /proc/3637/exe -> /usr/bin/python2.6

This is how I've compiled Ice:

# User specific aliases and functions
alias python='python2.6'

Set temporary PATH veriable (later set it in .bashrc for user omero):
# export PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH

Dependencies check:
# yum install expat
# yum install db4
# yum install openssl openssl-devel.x86_64

# wget http://www.zeroc.com/download/Ice/3.3/Ice-3.3.1.tar.gz

# tar xzf Ice-3.3.1.tar.gz
# cd /srv/Ice-3.3.1/cpp
# make
[root at vera144 py]# make test
[root at vera144 py]# make install
[root at vera144 cpp]# cd /srv/Ice-3.3.1/py/

[root at vera144 py]# vi INSTALL
[root at vera144 py]# vi config/Make.rules
PYTHON_VERSION ?= python2.6
[root at vera144 py]# export ICE_HOME=""
[root at vera144 py]# make
[root at vera144 py]# make install

Cheers,
Leon Kolchinsky
