Hello,

The Open Microscopy Environment are pleased to announce a major
update to the OME-XML schema files. These files provide the
authoritative description of the OME Data Model.

This is a major (breaking) version release that is NOT backwardly
compatible with files created for the February 2008 release or May
2008 release.

As this is a major release it makes use of a new namespace:
http://www.openmicroscopy.org/Schemas/OME/2008-09/

Full details of the changes made can be found at
http://www.ome-xml.org/wiki/ChangesForSeptember2008

Key changes made with this release include:
- A major relaxing of the model to allow the capture of incomplete
metadata in proprietary files.
- An major re-working of the Region Of Interest model.
- The new Structured Annotation model.
- Support for LED light sources.
- Fixes to the way MicrobeamManipulation links to the rest of the
model to support multiple operations.

Thank you to everyone who provided input on these changes. We welcome
your suggestions for further improvements.
Comments can be emailed to us or added as tickets at:
http://www.ome-xml.org/

Thanks,

Andrew
