We're not using OMERO on Solaris here at Dundee. Which version of  
Solaris would you be potentially targeting for install?

If you're going to try and hit Solaris 10, I'd start by looking at  
Sun's PostgreSQL packaging, etc. here:

Java should be a trivial install, you just need to ensure that you  
have at least a 1.5.0 VM.
