[ome-devel] Insight webstart offline flag

At first glance it looks like it's because lib/python/omeroweb/webstart/templates/webstart/insight.xml contains

for quite a while we are using the webstart functionality to deploy and
update Insight on our various user's machines, and since the
certificates issues were fixed, it has been working really nicely for us!

Now just recently, we figured out that the desktop shortcut for starting
Insight contains the "--offline" flag which causes Java Webstart to use
the version cached locally, instead of checking with the OMERO server if
a newer one would be available. Even when manually removing the flag,
starting Insight to trigger the version check (causing an upgrade from
5.0.5 to 5.0.8 in our case) eventually results in the shortcut being
updated to contain the offline flag *again* - ignoring future version
mismatches in the same manner as before.

That's quite a serious issue for us as it means we'd have to manually
fix Insight for about 60+ active users, for a significant fraction of
them even on multiple different machines as they're using it in a
workstation pool.

Is this behaviour intended? Is there a workaround (configuration) for it?

Any idea how to fix this is highly appreciated!
