Dear All,
OMERO and Bio-Formats version 5.1.0-m4 are now public, see http://downloads.openmicroscopy.org/omero/5.1.0-m4/
and
http://downloads.openmicroscopy.org/bio-formats/5.1.0-m4/
This is the 4th development milestone we have released in the lead up to 5.1.0. It is intended as a preview of the code changes and is definitely use at your own risk. It is only intended as a developer preview to help you update your code before the final release Q1/2015.
The updates to the Data Model are now complete and documented at http://www.openmicroscopy.org/site/support/ome-model/ (Note that how these changes are implemented within OMERO is not fully documented as yet - developer documentation updates are ongoing).
Changes include:
* final Database changes - image.series is now exposed in Hibernate
* improved deletion performance
* client bundle clean-up
* other clean-up work including pep8 and removal of deprecated methods and components
* new Map annotations are now included in the UI and search functionality
* ImageJ plugin updates which allow
* importing of images and saving ROIs to OMERO from within the plugin
* viewing images stored in OMERO and their ROIs generated within OMERO from within the plugin
* updating ROIs on OMERO-stored images within the plugin and saving these back to OMERO without needing to re-import the image
* OMERO.matlab updates re: annotations
* OMERO.tables internal HDF5 format has changed
With thanks to Paul Van Schayck and Luca Lianas for their contributions.
NOTE - Improvements for JPEG EXIF reading in Bio-Formats have led to a regression in OMERO whereby JPEG files may not be importable into OMERO 5.1.0-m4. This bug will be fixed before the public release of 5.1.0.

The OME Team
