Dear All

Just a quick update on the upcoming OME Users Meeting. An updated near-final programme is now posted at

http://www.openmicroscopy.org/site/community/minutes/meetings/9th-annual-users-meeting-june-2014

We'll open the meeting on Thursday with a summary of the project's status, and then we'll move to a series of invited presentations. These have been chosen to highlight the range of use of OME's tools and also the activity in the field of imaging informatics. Obviously, we can't include everything going on in one afternoon, but we hope to provide a good sample and start discussion.

The format of the meeting has been designed to highlight interaction and discussion. As in past years, we encourage participants to bring and present posters. We'll have a buffet dinner around the posters Thursday evening. We'll promote the posters with one minute "lightning talks" presented at the end of the formal talks, so please do bring posters showing your work. It's a great way to drive interaction and discussion about where your work and OME's work needs to go.

We're working out the programme for user workshops for Friday. For the moment, assume that everything OME releases-- Bio-Formats, OMERO, and all the Consortium Projects (http://www.openmicroscopy.org/site/products/partner) will be on display and demo'd. Other projects will also be represented, including ImageJ2 and openBIS. We'll try to ensure there are small groups to enable lots of discussion, etc. As always, OME's developers will be available to discuss the project, the software, or anything else.

Free Registration closes April 22. We already have >70 participants, and more are coming in (there's always a peak at the deadline ;-)!). Please do register ASAP, as this helps our budgeting. We're grateful for support from the Wellcome Trust and BBSRC for their support of the meeting, and as always, grateful for everyone at Institut Pasteur, especially the team at Spencer Shorte's Imagopole for supporting and hosting the meeting.

As some of you know, we're preparing the case for our next round of funding. This is not simply a renewal, but rather an argument for the next phase of the project. Do come with ideas for new priorities and directions. Yes, we have a few of our own, but we'd love to hear yours.

Look forward to seeing you in Paris.

Cheers,

Jason
