Hi Melissa and Curtis,
My apologizes for having not submitted the metadata file before. I am just back to the office, but the time difference between us is naturally slowing down our discussion.
Honestly for one specific project I always store this OME.XML in a separate file ONLY now. That's not what I wish as a general rule for our screening facility, because it's not safe enough for the metadata. Additionally:
- As bio-formats user, I consider the current OME-XML schema too expensive.
- As developer of tools for microscopist, I find quite convenient in each file. One of our approaches was to compress the OME.TIF with LZW, which only delayed the problem until the next screen.

Having a look again into the metadata, it seems to me that there's lots of redundant information in there... A drawback of XML, not OME-XML. Would be good to give a pattern to find all the filenames instead of the filenames. Something like a regular expression... I do not suggest to break the flexibility of the specification, but to extend it with an optional <PIxel Filename="/RegExpr/">
You can preview to have that need exclusively with time-lapse experiments, that's my personal appreciation.

Do not get me wrong, I do not try to push this faster. There are many formats and many users.
But these files that validate with xmlvalid could definitively be better. ..
If Leica engineers can do something about the completion of the headers, I can transmit our concerns to the supplier in Mannheim. This formats is not so established yet.
