You are right, OMERO_Import (same version revision 1472).

works well with jvm 1.5 (build 1.5.0_11-b03) on linux x86.
(also tested OK  with Vista, JVM (32b) 1.6.0_01-b06)
so it must be a linux/JVM 1.6 bug.

I am currently "heavily" testing  OMEROserver/import/insight/admin on 
different systems (debian linux, WinXP, Vista, OSX Tiger/Intel, 
Tiger/PPC and maybe Solaris10/Sparc/Opteron)  so if you wish I can post 
reports on this ML.
