Dear Colleagues

We have recently been investigating the use of GPFS (parallel filesystem) on the microscopes and softworx workstations.
Currently, users get access to the central LMF filesystem through NFS mounting of the filesystem.
There are inherent perfomance and stability issues with NFS.
We have established that its possible to mount the LMF filesystem via GPFS and we hope this will improve the perfomance greatly (Faster copying of files, aquire images directly to central filesystem, etc)
I will therefore be running pilot deployments to a few microscopes and softworx workstations, inorder to collect feedback from users. I will let you know which workstations will have this implemented.

Many thanks

Benny
