[lm-announce] How many of you actually read these emails...?

Dear All,

As part of our efforts to provide you with a quality microscopy
service, you are automatically subscribed to this mailing list when
you register for an account in Light Microscopy. This is the easiest
way for us to offer you sound advice on the use of our microscopes,
alert you to any problems and to draw your attention to good and bad
practice. Based on recent experience, I am a little curious as to
how many of you actually read these emails. Let's be generous and
assume they're going into your junk mail. So, I'd like to take this
opportunity to test the system. Those of you who have read this far
now have the zero effort opportunity to win some alcohol - a vital
commodity for surviving the Scottish winter.

The first person to reply to this email with the text "I love the LM-
announce emails, they're the highlight of my inbox" will win a bottle
of half decent red wine. Everybody who replies to this email by 9 am
on Wednesday morning will be entered into a free prize draw and will
stand the chance of winning a bottle of Single Malt Whisky. There
are about 170 of you on the list. Honestly, I expect the odds of you
winning to be rather more favourable than that figure suggests. Even
if you're teetotal, it would help me to know what our hit rate is, so
please reply anyway. You can always give the bottle of whisky as a
Christmas gift if you're lucky enough to win.

If you would prefer not to receive these emails, you can unsubscribe
from the list by visiting: http://lists.openmicroscopy.org.uk/mailman/

If you are new to microscopy and are worried you may have missed out
on some fantastic reading material, you can also view our previous
postings from this link.

Thanks and good luck!
Sam
