Dear All,
The following potential opportunity at University of Bristol may be
of interest to those of you with a strong background in image
analysis for light and electron microscopy. Informal enquiries are
invited at this stage, pending the outcome of a current grant
application.
Best regards,
Sam
Mathematical Analysis of Microscopy Data, University of Bristol
We are trying to build on our cell biology strength in Bristol and,
as part of our current plan we would like to recruit what we are
calling a “Data Analysis Engineer”. Essentially this is a catch all
term to cover any possible individual we might attract from a full
academic group leader through to technical specialist “Scientific
Officer” for example.
What we seek is someone who can develop and implement software for
image analysis from light and electron microscopy, possibly also
coupled with mathematical modelling. Essentially the area we are
looking at is a strong mathematical input in to our existing work
across all of cell biology in Bristol (e.g. those PIs on our Wellcome
4 Year PhD programme). Initial five-year funding would be applied for
through a Strategic Funding bid with discussion ongoing (depending
largely on the individual) as to how the post would be funded
subsequently – this might either be through our very successful
Bioimaging Facility or through a full HEFC-type appointment.
