[lm-announce] 2nd floor spectris - beam path selector problem

Dear All,

The beam path selector (the wheel you turn to switch between the  
eyepieces and the camera) is wearing out on the 2nd floor spectris.   
This has been raised with the field engineer who is making  
arrangements to come up and repair the fault.  In the meantime,  
please be as gentle as you can with the beam path selector, don't  
force it if it sticks, and let me know if you think a problem is  
developing with it (rather than waiting until it's properly broken  
before you see me).  If you are doing critical experiments that would  
leave you in tears if the beam path selector broke while you were on  
the microscope, can I please suggest you look to use a different  
microscope for the next couple of weeks.
