Dear All,
Despite several polite reminders over the past few months, some of
you are still consuming food and drink in the microscope rooms. In
the past few weeks this has ranged from crisp and sweet wrappers,
coke cans etc right though to pizza boxes and beer. Please read the
following very carefully, regardless of whether or not you are
responsible for this -
1. you MUST NOT eat and drink in any of the microscope rooms, prep
lab or the workstation room.
2. if we discover that somebody has been eating and drinking, they
will be banned from using all of the central facility equipment and
their account will be deleted.
3. if you discover food and drink at a microscope or in the bin when
you start your session, you need to tell us immediately so that you
are not falsely accused.
Aside from the fact that food rubbish is unpleasant for the next
microscope user, this is a genuine health and safety issue and puts
the extremely expensive equipment at risk from spills and grease. We
are also regularly asked to provide tours of central scientific
services to various sponsors, including the Wellcome Trust and CRUK,
and it is extraordinarily embarrassing to walk into a designated lab
area and find the remnants of a 3 course meal festering on the AV table.
Thanks,
Sam
