[lm-announce] using the calendar nicely

Dear All,

Recently, some of you guys have been selecting "all day" from the drop 
down menu on the booking calendar.  In the future could you please 
please please fill in the hours you intend to use the microscope so 
that other users can get on before or after you (when you select "all 
day" you are the only person in the building who knows when you're on 
and off).  It would also be very helpful if you could sign in as email 
and extension number (e.g. s.swift@ 8751) and your experiment type 
(e.g. "live FRET" or "fixed" or what have you - it doesn't need to be 
an essay).  This makes it a) easier for you to be contacted if the 
microscope becomes available early and b) gives me an idea of what 
you're up to in case you might need a hand.  I'm not trying to get all 
heavy and uncool, but we've got a lot of users who would happily sell a 
kidney in exchange for a few extra hours on a spectris at the moment, 
so spare a thought for your fellow microscopist (not least because he's 
probably been sitting in a dark room all day with only a high frequency 
hum and a flashing green light for company - it might not take much to 
tip him over the edge).
