Would you be willing to upload a sample non-working TIFF file, so that we can investigate this issue? If so, you can upload a file up to 500MB using this link:

http://qa.openmicroscopy.org.uk/qa/upload/

I wanted to inform you about your software loci_tools.jar - a plugin for ImageJ - which has some problems importing tiled TIFF files in my case. I have used Li Cor CLX Western Blot reader, which uses the Image Studio Software (supplied with the machine). This gives output files in tiled TIFF (32 bit) and after research I have found out, that these files are splitted in tiles which are 128x128 pixels big. Windows Image Displayer or MSPaint can simply open and display these files. However neither photoshop or ImageJ can. While importing these files with your tools I get an image, which is smeared so it somehow cannot figure to put pixels into right place, so I get wierd lines which are oblique. I hope this helps you with the development.

Best regards,
Saren Tasciyan
