Dear OME people,

Although open source software is the target of my personal
development efforts, my lab still uses a mix of open and commercial
closed source software. In considering a transition to an image
database system like Omero one major consideration is whether all of
our software would be able to get convenient access to image
(meta)data. It was recently pointed out to me that that the GPL
license of the ICE framework used by Omero is a problem for any
closed source application that wanted to talk to an Omero server via
ICE:

I presume this would include Imaris. Has anyone looked at this
issue in detail? Thoughts? Workarounds?

Best wishes,

Greg.
