<div class=Section1>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>Hi OMERO team,<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>we have installed OMERO.server Beta 2.3 on
our AIX machine and we have the problem, that the clients cannot connect<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>to the server. If a client tries to connect
to the server, the server’s log does not change at all and the client
answers something<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>like “server is probably down”.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>So, I’ve established a little test
system consisting of three parts:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>(I) Server<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>OMERO.server Beta 2.3 is installed on a
Linux machine.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>(II) Client<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>OMERO.insight Beta 2.3.1 is installed on a
Windows XP machine (I’ve also tried with Beta 2.3.2)<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>(III) Switch<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>A switch connects both machines, so that I
can be sure that no ports are blocked (our local IT staff tries to keep<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>a maximum security level and thus blocks
most ports, since we’re a University Hospital and patient’s data
have to<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>be secure).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>So, I know the state of my network, I know
the state of the machine’s firewalls and port settings, but client and
server<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>cannot establish a connection.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>BUT:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>If I install OMERO.insight Beta 2.3.1 on
the Linux machine (I), where the server is running, these two can connect.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>So, do I have to tell the server, that it
has to allow connections from outside? Do you have any idea, what the problem<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>might be?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Best regards,<br>
