[ome-users] How big can a dataset be?

Hi all,

It's a bit of a silly question, and it might have been answered
somewhere, but just to be on the safe side: how big can a dataset become
before things break, if anything, and what would break? I am thinking
500,000 - 1,000,000 (small) images in the same dataset, with tags to
sift/search through them, nosql like. Would webtagging work for example?
What if all the logic is handled outside and OMERO is only to serve
particular images/pixels?

(the use case is storing cropped, pre-processed, z-projected images of
already segmented cells to avoid having to download and process the
z-stack of the full image if/when the dataset is re-analysed)

Many thanks

Anatole
