Hello,

The Open Microscopy Environment are pleased to announce a major update
to the OME-XML schema files. These files provide the authoritative
description of the OME Data Model.

This is a major (breaking) version release that is NOT backwardly
compatible with files created for the September 2008 release.

As this is a major release it makes use of a new namespace:
http://www.openmicroscopy.org/Schemas/OME/2009-09/

Full details of the changes made can be found at
http://www.ome-xml.org/wiki/ChangesForSeptember2009

Key changes made with this release include:
- LogicalChannel and ChannelComponent are merged into the new Channel
element.
- Valid IDs and References are enforced by indexes and keys.
- Some objects supporting the original OME server have been removed.
- Structured Annotation links have been reworked and reversed.
- ROI have their own namespace, schema file ROI.xsd, and are now top
level objects.
- Fixes to the way MicrobeamManipulation links to the rest of the
model to support multiple operations.

Thank you to everyone who provided input on these changes. We welcome
your suggestions for further improvements.
Comments can be emailed to us or added as tickets at:
http://www.ome-xml.org/

Thanks,

Andrew
