Therefore, as of next week we will be holding weekly microscopy clinics every Tuesday morning from 10 am to 12.30 pm. Facility staff will be available in the microscopy office (1.05F) for those of you who wish to drop in for an informal chat about any aspect of microscopy. I will also have a microscope available for a hands on discussion on a variety of themes. These will be on a rolling basis as follows -</div><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div>Week 1 - the transmitted light path, conjugate planes, Kohler and DIC </div><div>Week 2 - fluorescence basics, deconvolution and point spread functions</div><div>Week 3 - bleed through, cross talk and colocalization</div><div>Week 4 - Nonlinear illumination and multiphoton imaging</div><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div>We are, of course, still available to attend and speak at group meetings and provide one on one training sessions. For those of you who are interested in some light reading, I would also remind you that we do have a number of text books you can sign out (including but not limited to Pawley's handbook of biological confocal microscopy, Lakowicz's principles of spectroscopy, Spector's Live Cell Imaging lab manual etc). As of Tuesday the 16th, I will also have available printed copies of a number of general articles and beginners guides to microscopy that you are welcome to help yourselves to.</div><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div>Some useful links: </div><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><font face="Helvetica" size="3" style="font: 12.0px Helvetica">OMX: <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">                        </span><a href="http://microscopy.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/omx/index.html">http://microscopy.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/omx/index.html</a></font></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><font face="Helvetica" size="3" style="font: 12.0px Helvetica">Sample prep: <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">        </span><a href="http://mitchison.med.harvard.edu/protocols.html">http://mitchison.med.harvard.edu/protocols.html</a></font></div></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><font face="Helvetica" size="3" style="font: 12.0px Helvetica">Primer:<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">                        </span><a href="http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/primer/">http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/primer/</a></font></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><font face="Helvetica" size="3" style="font: 12.0px Helvetica">Probes: <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">                        </span><a href="http://www.invitrogen.com/site/us/en/home/References/Molecular-Probes-The-Handbook.html">http://www.invitrogen.com/site/us/en/home/References/Molecular-Probes-The-Handbook.html</a></font></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div></div></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">The new Microscope Facility website will be launched in the next week or two at <a href="http://microscopy.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/index.html">http://microscopy.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/index.html</a> - I'll let you know as soon as it is up.</div></div><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div>Best regards,</div><div>Sam</div><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div></div><br></body></html>
